Description: For your consideration: selling is one super imposing, ultra-cool looking B-2 stealth Technics SL-P1200 broadcast, reference quality CD player (photos 1-to-5) You won't see many of these around due to the high sticker price upon arrival to the pro-industry when the universe revolved in the transistorized analog orbit while the ubiquitous ones & zeros were simply kindergarten child-play elements of its era. It's very well built to say the least and it is almost impossible to ignore its stunning presence with a sound that is hard to beat. Prior to posting, inactive for some time, it recently received hours of 20-point tune-up by opening the machine layer by layer included but not limited to: Replenished all pertinent electronic components and moving parts to assure proper signal contact. Door sensor reinforced better than before, stubborn tact-switch replaced new and now smooth like butter when pressed. The “play & stop” push-buttons seamlessly refitted with a substitute red ones that look rather nice! Vigorously buffed, detailed clean every crevice and every line with some retouching involved in the refurbishing process and aesthetic makeover to arrive in this rejuvenated state. It reads original retail bought cd’s effortlessly. It may even recognize some recorded cd’s as well particularly the ones burned in real-time or slower speed, but it may be arbitrary. HOWEVER: At bench tests and observation missed, the “auto space” led indicator is out but still functions as should. The pitch control seems to only affect the high speed but not the slow region. The headphone output somehow is muted but registering a crackling sound can be heard at full volume, perhaps due to contact issue attributed to prolonged inactivity, and my guess is, the sound may return one day as the case with my other slp-1300 machine. I'm too inundated with so much work lined-up and may not be able to execute further repair. On that note, it is being sold "AS IS" in described condition for repair, parts or project and be prepared to explore and tackle the necessary challenge of figuring out proper remedy implementation to bring this formidable machine to manufacturer's specs and operational order. Don't deny this rare 80's classic simply for posterity, the ultimate conversational display piece in your esoteric audio gallery with a few colleagues & contemporaries over a beer exchanging anecdotes and comparing "biases", "total harmonic distortions", "signal-to-noise-ratio" or maybe reminiscing 'bout the day when "analog ruled the world!" Hey, perhaps the epoch of analog discovery is in full-circle, yet again..just a wishful thought but who's to say? Own a piece of history and wonder no more! These models have seized in production and becoming a rare commodity, highly desirable and extremely sought after, so grab them while it lasts! Also for sale separately is a Numark HDX recently serviced ($1799, photos 6-to-10) and in perfect working order. Ripped a few cd's I meticulously recorded directly from my vinyl library (image 11) I will include in the package: PS-2 keyboard to make your navigation a breeze with the HDX, data cable and the 1.18 version firmware on a disc with instruction. The road case is not included but may be purchased separately. Also available for grabs on another listing: Numark CDX CD player fully refurbished and in working order (inquire for more details) Due a recent move, there may be minimal superficial unnoticeable aesthetic imperfections but in no way impede normal operation.
