Description: Just in time for the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, Get Back, Apollo 11, Aquarius-Let The Sunshine In, Suspicious Minds, Lay Lady Lay, Sugar Sugar, Hee Haw and more! For fans of the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, bubblegum music, picture sleeves and label sleeves. Hi, here is a one of a kind BOOK (no records!) about the thousands of 45 RPM 7" records issued in America in 1969. This BOOK contains over 60 pages in full color of record label sleeves and picture sleeves - see sample pages in the pictures included in this listing. The BOOK measures 8 X 10 inches and is softbound and is copyrighted by me, the author. 273 pages with index (sample shown in pictures). I have been collecting singles since I was 5 years old. By the time I was a teenager in 1969, the 45 RPM format was achieving it's 20th anniversary (as was Gene Autry's version of Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer, which is pictured in this book). In 2009 when I wrote the BOOK, it was 40 years later and the music and the memories still lived on. 1969 was an amazing year for music (as well as those Mets). It was the year an astronaut landed on the Moon; the year of Woodstock and Altamont; the year Paul McCartney of the Beatles supposedly died; a year in which civil rights, women's rights, gay rights, and human rights were major news stories; a year in which Patriotism and protest divided our nation; a year in which television brought Hee Haw, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash, and other recording artists into our living rooms (mostly in black and white); the year a musical called "Hair" sent numerous songs into the top ten and our collective memories; the year "Tommy" emerged and a Superstar named Jesus; the year after Elvis came back and before the Beatles came apart; a year when Dark Shadows moved from the TV to the radio; and a year in which Vietnam loomed over everything. All of these events involved records on 45 RPM singles. The book is richly illustrated with ad content from the music publishers of the day. Even includes a section on Christmas singles. For the casual music fan or the avid collector, this one of a kind book is a must have.
