Description: The Case of The Sulky Girl Erle Stanley Gardner Morrow, New York, 1933. First Edition, first printing. The second book in the world-famous Perry Mason series and the rarest of all the Erle Stanley Gardner first edition books to encounter in its original dust jacket. A Haycraft-Queen cornerstone book. A very good plus to fine copy as shown, interior is nice with white pages and the top corner of page 17 was turned down as shown. The book sits square with the red top page edges as shown, the lower corners of front and back boards bumped. The spine has no end wear. The inner hinges are firm, and the rear board has a small Osborne's Book Store label from Santa Barbara, CA as shown. Santa Barbara is just up the road from Ventura, where Gardner lived and wrote this book. The dust jacket is a rarity. This is the only copy listed that could be found for sale with an original complete dust jacket. Overall the dust jacket is very good with spine end chipping, a light pencil marking on the publisher imprint logo at the spine of the jacket. The dust jacket has three splits at the folds, one is 1.5 inches along the bottom of the spine-front panel juncture, one is 1.25 inches and it along the same juncture but at the top, and the other is 3.0 inches along the front flap bottom and front panel. There is some soiling to the white rear panel as shown. This jacket will be enclosed in a Mylar jacket protector. Photos show the jacket without a Mylar protector. I assembled a complete collection of Gardner first editions and this is the only copy I have encountered like this. This book was part of the Erle Stanley Gardner Museum in Ventura, CA, where he practiced law and wrote pulp stories. John Anthony Miller Ventura, CA
