Description: “THE KOZMIC LADYE” JANICE KRAMER 1978 SAN FRANCISCO - author, street handouts. A colorful noted San Francisco character who dressed in tie-dyed rainbow colors and called herself The Kozmic Ladye, Janice was an avid supporter of environmental and social causes, whose conversational opening on the street was usually "The rent is due on the planet" and the rhetorical question, "Are we civilized yet?" She was born near Boston and worked for a congressman in Washington, DC in 1954 before moving to Los Angeles in 1957, where she received a B.A. in Psychology (Phi Beta Kappa) and earned a Masters Degree in Social Welfare from the University of Southern California. She was the author of "On being aware and expanding your consciousness: Or, How to appreciate, accept, understand, love, live with, laugh at, and rise above your basic self," published by Tarnheim Press in 1973. She died of lung cancer in San Francisco. The world is less colorful without her in it.
