When this reissue came out back in 2002, I was absolutely shocked that Chrysalis Records managed to get 5 complete albums onto 3 CDs, I was especially surprised considering that Loco Live is a double album. When I first saw it on the racks of my local Virgin retailer, I almost felt angry! I remember thinking to myself, why the heck did I buy all the individual albums? Silly of course! We can only live in the present! and the new fans need to be considered also. Here is what you get on this stonking boxset - Brain Drain, from 1989. A totally under appreciated album. I have this album listed currently as an individual CD, with a review for you to read,if it interests you. The album was Dee Dee Ramones last studio album with the band as a bass player, however once a Ramone always a Ramone! Due to Mark's diplomacy, Dee Dee remained behind the scenes as the bands cheif songwriter, just the way Tommy remained as a producer. Ramones, Loco Live! From 1991 It was really clever of Chrysalis Records to get the band to record most of there best known songs in front of a loyal partisan audience in Barcelona. Chrysalis now have these highly energised versions in their back catolouge. This album introduced the brilliant CJ Ramone to theworld! If it interests you, I have a review of this album under my current listings on an individual CD. Mondo Bizarre, from 1992 This is an under appreciated classic in my opinion.At the record fairs, we are constantly asked if we have this in stock. It never seems to get mentioned by the critics or even Ramones fans on the written page. This needs to change as the band where compositionally very strong on this record. Censorshit is a great opener from Joey, really catchy, I love the way he name checks Frank Zappa. Poison Heart, is a bona fide classic! and is one of the Ramones best singles, up there, with Sheena is a Punk Rocker, and Rockaway Beach. Strength To Endure is one of Dee Dees strongest tracks, a brilliant composition. It's Gonna Be Alright, and Touring are totally infectious, catchy tunes from Joey. I love the way Joey gives us Ramones fans a little compliment on It's Gonna Be Alright. Acid Eater's, from 1994 A brilliant covers album! I love the version of Out Of Time. This track was originally on The Rolling Stones, Aftermath, album. It is my opinion, that this record is not only a rock classic, but also a masterpiece and high point of 1960s culture. Adios Amigos, from 1995 The Ramones final studio album. I Don't Want To Grow Up was one of the Ramones, best moments, I remember getting really excited hearing this tune on Top Of The Pops, I was punching the air in delight, and my younger brother in law was dancing in the living room, we could not help ourselves! Take The Pain Away, is a poignant, hardly ever mentioned tune from Dee Dee that deserves more attention. This track sounds really good in isolation, on a playlist, it will prick up your ears, and demand that you listen, when you hear it, in this context. She Talks To Rainbows, is a really interesting track from Joey, I think Joey was experimenting with his songwriting style on this number, a great tune! On this record, Joey got a great assist on vocals from CJ. This final studio album is important, as it helped to pave the way for CJs solo career. CJ Ramone is a legend, the real deal, check out his brilliant solo albums. I really love his recent cover of Hear Stand's The Glass, CJ did with this tune, what he did in the Ramones, added enthusiasm and energy to both. The Ramones sound and music is also being kept alive by Richie' Ramones band and also by Marky Ramones band. Richie has aquired a Dee Dee hardcore vocal delivery, and Mark's band are totally melodic and brilliant. The Ramones sound is also being kept alive by the thousands of bands that they have inspired, this music and style is hear to stay and will never go away! The Ramones, are not dead, they represent freedom, the idea is actually more important than the band itself! The Ramones did not come from wealth or privilege, if anything they where outsiders, who had a belief in the power, energy and joy, of rock and roll. They stood firm and united in this belief, worked really hard, toured the world constantly, and despite all the blockers that was placed in there path, changed the face of music forever. For your visual viewing pleasure, we are adding this DVD, The Ramones Raw, we feel it is a good match with the Chrysalis Boxset as it has a lot of really good footage from the Chrysalis era. This DVD is absolutely essential, as it contains over 5 hours of material! Totally priceless hearing this music blasting out of your television, now that we can no longer see the band live! This DVD is region 2, this means you can watch it in the UK, Ireland, and Europe. Here's what you get on this really special DVD - Footage of the band from circa 1979 to 1996. I was absolutely shocked when the Ramones Anthology was first released, I could not believe that the good folks at Rhino Records managed to get 57 stonking tracks on a two CD set! I was also surprised that it was a career spanning compilation,unlike Ramones Mania, that only covered the Sire years. If you have been following the other Cool Vault Music Club listings, you will see notice that we already have the Anthology listed, however this is not actually the case, this is the 2002 release, the one we have previously listed is the 1999 version with the 80 page hardback book. We also love the 2002 Anthology, we wanted to squeeze it into the music club, somewhere, so we have decided to add it to this little bundle. It's a good match with the Chrysalis Boxset as the Chrysalis years on the Anthology was under represented to say the least! The photography on this album is stunning! It totally defines an era. It shows the truth of the punk movement, innocent, inclusive, creative and good fun! You also get all the covers of all the Ramones studio albums. All things considered, we really feel that this Ramones bundle represents really good value. To make it an even better deal, we are also throwing in free postage, if you are UK based. We can't really do any better than this. If you only make one Ramones purchase in your life, then you are on very safe ground,loads of studio albums, one of the best live albums of all time, and the main singles and key album track's on the anthology, representing the Site years.
