Description: Offered here are three of the four volumes that comprise " Les Oeuvres de Monsieur Moliere " (The Works of Moliere), in a "new edition" published by J. M. Husson, The Hague, in 1735. We offer volumes I, III, and IV. These volumes present the French text of some of Moliere's most celebrated plays, including Sganarelle, School for Husbands, School for Wives, Scapin, and Le Borgeois Gentilhomme. Volume I also include an introduction in Dutch, and a biography of Moliere in French. The three volumes are bound in their original full leather, much rubbed and showing cracking and loss of material. The spines have raised bands. Only one of the spine title paste-downs is still extant (on Volume I). Prior owner(s)' name(s) and notations are written on front end pages. The first signature of Volume I has separated from the binding; there are several loose pages in Volume III, and the volume is missing page 323/4; the title page is missing from Volume IV.
