Description: Maker: On the base of this lovely tureen or covered vegetable bowl is mark number 34 of the Theodore Haviland company, one of the great Limoges firms at the turn of the last century. This mark was in use between 1904 and 1925. Source: third edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston. An impressed "TH" white ware mark also appears. Design: The tureen is lightly scalloped and beautifully hand painted with tiny pink roses and scrolls, in keeping with the exceptionally high quality that made the company's porcelain so famous and so coveted. Gold daubs and sculpted handles add an additional touch of distinction. The pattern is called Schleiger 837H. Many of the great Limoges companies produced variations of the classic and hugely popular pattern of delicate pink roses against a pure white background. That means this tureen would easily blend into similar sets by many other Limoges makers. And of course, it would make a beautiful display on its own or as part of any collection of fine china. Haviland pattern identification disclaimer: Haviland produced between 30,000 and 60,000 china patterns, many with only slight variations, and the identification of this item's pattern is not guaranteed. If you are trying to match a Haviland pattern, please check all the photos in this listing very carefully against your own items to be sure this is the right pattern for you. Condition: Both pieces are in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, stains, discoloration, repairs, crazing or wear. The gold is completely intact. Size: The tureen is 8 3/8 inches wide and 3 7/8 inches tall without the lid. The two pieces together weigh 3 pounds 3 ounces. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
