Description: Ticket stub from a playoff game played at since demolished Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia between the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies in the first game of the 1980 National League Championship Series. The game was played on 10/7/1980. The Phillies won the game 3-1. It was the first ever postseason game for the Houston Astros. It may have been the most dramatic postseason series in MLB history. Game 1 was the only game in the series that did not go into extra innings. Games 2 - 5 were 4 consecutive extra-inning games to end what used to be a 5 game series. The series also back then was played with the first 2 games played in one location and then the final 3 games would all be played in the other location. Steve Carlton was the winning pitcher. Tug McGraw got the save. Greg Luzinski homered, his final career postseason home run. Pete Rose had 2 hits and scored a run in his first postseason game with the Phillies. It was also the first time he played first base in a postseason game after playing at several other positions earlier in his career with the Reds. It was the first career postseason game for many Astros, Jose Cruz, Cesar Cedeno, Gary Woods, Luis Pujols, Dave Bergman, Terry Puhl, Ken Forsch, and Jeffrey Leonard.
