Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely Towle Sterling Silver compote or candy dish with engraved and embossed decoration in the pattern known as "French". The decoration includes an embossed band around the top border, underside border and at border of base. There is also an engraved design with flowers and swags below the embossed band at the border also on the interior and exterior of the bowl. The compote is solid and unweighted. Marked with the Towle trademark stamp and "Sterling, 15112, Patented Sept. 30, 1924" and has the pattern "French" also stamped on the base. The Towle Silversmiths of Newburyport MA were established in 1882 and continue to be a major high quality silver producer today. Measures 4 1/8" high with a 6 1/8" diameter top and a 3 1/8" diameter base. Weighs 149 grams. This nice compote is in very good to excellent Estate condition and reflecting only minimal signs of normal wear.
