Description: This vintage real photo postcard features a street scene in Twin Lakes, Colorado. In the background is Mount Elbert, which the writer remarks is higher then Pikes Peak. The street view reveals a number of signs including one for Texaco. Advertising signs for a cafe, a hotel, and the "Sportsmen's Lounge" can also be seen. Judging by the four cars seen in this photo, the card was published in the 1950's. Twin Lakes was once a mining-transportation hub serving the communities of Leadville and Aspen, Colorado. The town is in the shadow of Mount Elbert. Mt. Elbert is the highest summit of the Rocky Mountains in the US. It has an elevation of 14,440 feet while Pikes Peak has an elevation of 14,115. This postcard was published by the Rocky Mountain View Company (Denver, Colorado). This postcard is in good condition (see scans).
