Description: Long thought to be meteoric in origin, tektites are now known to be an impactite, or material created by the collision with the earth of very large objects. It takes a serious asteroid to create these pieces of natural glass that have been blasted into space by collision, reaching orbital level and velocity and coming back down as a molten fiery rain. Over 75 million years ago, such an asteroid crashed into the Earth and sprayed large parts of southeast Asia with these frozen blobs of asteroid impact. Made of glass, these objects are very chippable, but these two pieces are in pristine condition, and represent the best tektite specimens that you can get for a reasonable price. The big one is 109 grams and the smaller one 81. At $59 including shipping for both of these, that’s a very fair price.
