Fully populated internal radio cables to bring out the needed connections from YOUR TH-9000D radios, 2 cables. 1 for transmitter radio, 1 for receiver radio (both identical)Also includes mating DB-9 cables that will plug into the DB-9 connector that you will install on your radioBasic skills with a screwdriver and the ability to follow directions are needed. If you do not feel confident to add these cables, then pay someone to do it for you.We suggest our ID-O-MATIC repeater controller (IDOM4) , see our eBay store, available in a separate listing. Available CW only or VOICE and CWYes, the cables with white connectors are special and almost impossible to get elsewhere, we had to buy 100 just to get a decent price All work to install 12 inch wires on DB-9 connector done in our shop by Hams for Hams! There is a lot more work for us to prepare this cable set than you might think!DB-9 connectors may or may not have one mounting hole slot cut out. If not, you can open the hole if needed with your radio. YOU must select the radios and verify the frequency range of whatever radios you select. We do not sell the radiosFor the reading impaired, RADIOS or CONTROLLER NOT INCLUDED!!FINALLY an EASY solution to making a repeater without having to buy used Motorola radios requiring special software and skills!NOTE: YOU NEED BOTH THE INTERNAL AND THESE EXTERNAL CABLES TO MAKE THE COMPLETE CONNECTIONS TO OUR idom4 (OR ANY QUALITY CONTROLLER). How to do it:1) Open YOUR radio by removing bottom cover 2) Insert white plastic connector through DB-9 connector hole in rear of radio (you may need to remove a cover) 3) Carefully plug white plug into connector on board as shown in the picture, WHITE WIRE is towards FRONT of radio (as shown), dress cable as shown 4) Mount DB-9 female in hole with screws provided (note: one side of DB-9 mounting hole has been opened to allow for the odd distance screw holes on the TH-9000D 5) Repeat for 2nd radio DB-9 male plugs with hoods and wire are included, 1 for transmitter, 1 for receiver to connect to YOUR controller The transmitter DB-9 has 3 wires The receiver DB-9 has 4 wires Wires (in gray jacket) are 12" each, you can cut to shorten, strip ends and install hoods (included) if you wish Transmitter DB-9 WHITE - Ground (connect to terminal 12 on IDOM4) YELLOW - TX Audio (terminal 11 on IDOM4) BLACK - PTT (terminal 3 on IDOM4) Receiver DB-9 WHITE - ground (terminal 1 on IDOM4) BLUE - RX audio (terminal 8 on IDOM4) ORANGE - COS (active low) (terminal 7 on IDOM4) RED - +5 vdc (terminal 2 on IDOM4) (if your controller needs 12 vdc, just do not use this wire) What is on each DB-9 female? WHITE - Ground YELLOW - TX Audio BLACK - PTT BLUE - RX audio ORANGE - COS (active low) RED - +5 vdc (if your controller needs 12 vdc, do not use this wire) More notes on making a repeater Program each TH-9000D on separate frequencies, typically 5 MHz difference on UHF for Ham or GMRS Example: 467.650 RX, 462.650 TX (GMRS). We also suggest using a PL tone (CTCSS) We suggest programming each radio identical, then if you ever need to swap RX and TX radios, all you need to do is change coax and controller cables What do I mean by identical? For example: program channel 1 as 467.650 with minus offset for each radio. The RX radio will never transmit so it will always receive on 467.650. The transmitter radio will transmit with the minus offset on 462.650 OR, you can program any way you want but to make a repeater, each of your radios MUST be on different transmit and receiver frequencies (example: UHF frequencies is usually separated by 5 MHz) Use your duplexer and one antenna or two separate antennas separated VERTICALLY by at least 10 feet from top of bottom antenna to bottom of top antenna for a 10 watt repeater. Each antenna MUST be mounted directly above and below each other, DO NOT mount your antennas with horizontal separation (horizontal is in the pattern of the antennas!) We recommend lowering the power on your TH-9000D transmitter as it will need to operate at 100% duty cycle and it is not rated to do so at full power. A cooling fan is also recommended. Use double shielded coaxial cables for the RF path for RX and TX Use a high quality power supply capable of delivering the total current needed by RX, TX radios, controller, fan, etc You may still use the speaker of the receiver radio to listen and plug a mic into the transmitter radio if you wish to also transmit from it locally.
