Description: Up for sale is a NAVY dual visor APH-6 Flight Helmet. The shell is a DH151 that is fitted with J bayonet receivers and labeled on the inside with ‘VTAS II’ although it appears to have never been drilled for this set up. The helmet is covered with reflective ‘snake skin’ style reflective film, and is taped with personalized markings: a revolver on the right hand side, and what appears to be the silhouette of an F-84F Thunderstreak on the visor. This is a mystery to me; Although this aircraft never well served under the NAVY, I do know they acquired some retired airframes for use as ground targets. The helmet is most likely dated to the late 70’s early 80’s. The condition is ‘well used’ with scuffs, marks, and tears on the reflective tape. The motion on dual visors is sticky and will probably need to be readjusted for fluid movement. There is a small crack on the clear visor. The edge roll and helmet liners are present, but aged and worn. The communication cords/ear phones have been removed. Please refer to the photos for details on the condition.
