Description: DATING TO THE 1890’S TWO PIECE IN CONSTRUCTION FASHIONED OF A BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW MULTI COLORED BLACK GROUND TWEED. THE TOP IS PIPED IN BLUE SILK VELVET ON THE BELTING, UP THE CLOSURE, AND ON THE HIGH BAND COLLAR WITH MATCHING PIPING ON THE CUFFS. HOOK AND EYES CLOSE THE FRONT. THE INTERIOR IS FULLY BONED WITH YELLOW SILK FINISHING THE SEAMS. THE SKIRT IS IN MATCHING FABRIC AND FLOWS IN A TRAIN IN THE REAR. THE BOTTOM OF THE SKIRT IS BOUND IN CORDUROY. COTTON WAISTBAND WITH HOOK CLOSURES IN THE REAR. CONDITION: THERE ARE HIGH POINTS OF WEAR TO THE SILK VELVET WITH SOME ABSENCE TO THE KNAP ON THE REAR COLLAR. I BELIEVE THAT BUTTONS WERE REMOVED FROM THE TAB DETAIL ON THE TOP LEFT CHEST. THE INTERIOR HOOK CLOSURE IS MISSING THE BOTTOM HALF BUT NONE THE WISER AS HOOK AND EYES ARE EASILY ADDED FOR THE CLOSURE. THE HOOK AND EYE IS MISSING FROM THE REAR CLOSURE WITH A SMALL FRAY AT THE REAR POINT. THE UNDERARMS HAVE A SMALL FRAY TO THE SEAM AND I SUSPECT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A TRIM OR A VEST DETAILING AT ONE TIME. THE CENTER BONE ON THE INTERIOR IS WARPED AND LOOSE. THE SKIRT HAS THREE FINGERTIP HOLES TO THE TWEED WITH ONLY THE TOP ONE VISIBLE, THE REST ARE UNNOTED BECAUSE THE INTERIOR IS FULLY LINED. A HALF INCH OF THE WAIST WAS TAKEN IN WITH TWO PINCHED STITCHES, COULD BE RELEASED IF SO DESIRED. A BEAUTIFUL AND FULLY WEARABLE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN GOWN.
