Very lengthy and interesting letter with medical mention of chewing 'Browns Troches' for cold with little improvement, very crowded train ride, huge amount of people headed for California and Oregon with filled capacity and steamers refusing to sell more tickets, writer was only able to secure a ticket based on previous commitment, yet was unable to get one for an acquaintance, mention of receiving a telegraph, yet much of letter devoted to travel and other arrangements for the writers journey to San Francisco and then on to Oregon with no mention of the raging Civil War at the time. Sent 1863, opened a bit roughly at right, some general wear and toning. Fine condition. Letter with normal file folds. Base shipping is $2.00 domestic & $3.50 international.
