Description: Hi,Here is another interesting US Navy Airship Collectable that not many collectors know about or have ever seen. My Ref# A-a Why buy from me? I try to list very unique collectables that are actually collectable. I try not to fill you up with fluff, but with my own research, insights and thoughts. I research just about everything I list and like to tell you a story along the way. I also like to think that I know a thing or two about what I am selling!!! You will also love my packaging skills!!! History-Over the years, I have obtained several Zeppelin and other Airship Relics from a long time elderly collector, some that I have kept, and others that I have sold. In the last set of items I obtained, I received a couple of pieces that are jewelry related including these USS Shenandoah ZR-1 US Navy Dirigible Stirling Hallmark with the letter "H" in a bell. I have four of these for sale and selling them one at a time. History- Again, as usual, I need to know more information about an item, especially if I don't know much about it. I am not a jeweler so I had to do some researching on this. If you know anything about the "H" mark in a bell, please let me know. This is a Sterling Silver Bracelet Charm of the USS Shenandoah ZR-1. It isn't very large but it is very detailed. This USS Shenandoah is moored and you can see some really great details when you blow the photos up. You can see cars and trucks, people walking, tethers and what appears to be a little structure like an office in the mooring mast. The backside of the charm has the words "U.S. Navy Dirigible Shenandoah" highlighted. If you don't know, dirigible is just a word to described an airship that can be steered under power. Next to those words are the telltale mark of Sterling Silver and the letter "H" in a Bell. This is the identify of the manufacturer. My research didn't turn up a positive identification but I did find some reference to a Stirling Silver Manufacturer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania called Hartford Sterling Co which was in business from 1900-1930. The H would identify Hartford and the bell would be Philly of course. This makes sense as that is within the time period of the USS Shenandoah ZR-1 lifetime-1923-1925. There is one other mentioning of the letter "H" in Philly of another manufacturer but they went out of business in 1909. All four of these charms are exactly the same. I gave them a gentle cleaning in an acid free ultrasonic cleaner using baking soda. According to the collector I obtained these from, they were never worn by the original owner. When you look at them, you can see that they are still in mint condition and have no wear marks. Sterling is soft and will wear down over time. These have no wear on them. I attached each one to a genuine wool felt with some backing material for shipping. You can leave it in the packaging like that if you want as everything it is touching is archival. I will include one free small print (postcard size) of the same photo you see in this ad with each charm purchased. I am offering a discount on more than one. I will combine the shipping on quantities of more than one. Just send me a reminder and I will refund you any overages. If you purchase all four, I will upgrade you to priority shipping. Shipping- Ebay is running a special with reduced postage for both USPS Ground Advantage and USPS Priority Mail. This is the first time I have seen this in awhile! You can pay a few dollars more and get priority mail for the same price as ground. I have passed the savings onto you. You choose at checkout. For $6.99, normally $8.99, I will mail this item well packed, protected and in a sturdy mailer via USPS Ground Advantage with tracking. For $9.99 (normally $11.99) I will mail it via USPS Priority with tracking. You can choose at checkout. I do combine shipping and remember my upgrade offer. I take my shipping seriously. If you have ever purchased from me in the past, you will know that. Paper goods and photos are sent completely surrounded by acid free archival quality papers and/or acid free PVC free Polypropylene bags and covers. This cost me well spent money. I also use a variety of recycled and new packaging including boxes and mailers. I try not to profit on my shipping. Please do not misinterpret my shipping charges. I take my time when packing anything anyone buys. I don't rush it, but at the same time, I don't overdue it. I hand select packaging materials that will not only protect the items value but will protect it during shipping. By placing a bid or buying it outright, you agree to any method I use to pack your item, new or used shipping material as I see fit. What is the best thing about my packaging? It will be easy to open! How many times have you received a package only to spend ten minutes trying to open it without destroying the contents!!! No extra tape, glue, staples, or my worst fear, items shoved between two pieces of cardboard with tape on every edge requiring a surgeon's scalpel to open it!!! This is a new store for me but I have been on Ebay for over 27 years with perfect feedback. I will be adding many more Zeppelin, Airship and Aviation related photos, postcards and a variety of relics and other artifacts over the next few days, weeks and months. Check back with me every week to see what I have added. Please contact me first with any issues. Thanks for looking!!!
