Description: Original oil painting of U.S.S. West Virginia BB-48 produced on 2-26-35 and signed by famous nautical artist Oliver Houston (1888-1955). This piece of art was awarded to Captain Roscoe F. Dillen, U.S.N. who was commanding officer of U.S.S West Virginia from October 17,1934 to June 9,1936. She was, at this time, Flagship, Battle Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet. U.S.S West Virginia was one of two battleships moored directly ahead of U.S.S. Arizona BB-39 on December 7, 1941 suffering relative slight topside damage during the attack by Japanese Navy bombers. Dimensions: 23 1/2" x 17 1/2" Excellent used condition.
