This can still be used as its intended purpose as a kitchen storage jar. The jar is decorated with applied spatter Rockingham glaze with the yellow ware clay showing through. The lid has an attractive applied strap handle with applied lug handles on the side of the jar. Measuring 7 ¼” in height to the rim, 9 ¾” to the top of the handle and 9” wide across the rim A similar large storage jar is shown in “Bennington Pottery and Porcelain” by Richard Carter Barret in Plate 128 on page 94. The jar is in excellent condition with only a chip on the underside of one of the handles with no other damage or repairs.
