Description: These are vintage/antique Ottoman Faturan bakeliteIslamic prayer beads or Tasbih. There are 33 olive shaped beads measuring approx. 2 cm long x 1.48 cm wide plus the Imam and another round bead.The total weight is 97 grams The beads have a beautiful deep red cherry amber color and are 21 of them are deep marbled. the rest of the beads are very strong red color with slight marble effect, the beads are all in the same shape and size and they came from the same necklace so I do not know why there are such variations in the marble effect They have a nice transparency against a strong light (see pictures).These beads are in very good vintage condition with some wear and imperfections consistent with their age. The beads have been recently restrung but the silk cord is a little loose.These are authentic old bakelite/ Faturan beads that test positive for bakelite with Simichrome and hot water test.Please look carefully at all the pictures and do not hesitate to ask more information or additional pictures before bidding/purchasing as this rare collector item is sold as is.
