Description: Offered for sale here is a very rare and substantial early history of Manchester United published in 1926 and in VERY GOOD condition. 112 pages . The full title is a "Souvenir of the International Match played at Old Trafford on April 17th 1926 and History of the Manchester United Football Club" The international match was the annual England v Scotland match but in fact only the first page and a half is devoted to that match with the rest being a substantial history of Manchester United from it's formative days as Newton Heath up to the mid 1920s. There were very few full length English football club histories published before te Second World War - apart from this item only Blackburn Rovers,Sheffield Wednesday,Everton and Manchester City spring to mind. Of these this United history seems to be the scarcest by some distance. The history was written by H P Renshaw ,a well known football journalist of the day and published by the club directors. A really substantial history of the club up to 1926,well illustrated and particularly strong on the Newton Heath days. The original card covers are in very good ,bright and complete condition with just the odd very minor mark. The contents are in excellent clean and unmarked condition. A very nice copy and very scarce - over the years I've seen just a handful of copies for sale at auction with the hammer price as much as £1600. The postage quoted is for Royal Mail Special Delivery Outside the UK we only post to Australia and New Zealand. If you are wishing to buy from these countries please contact us before buying to ascertain methods and prices of postage.
