I have not tested it as the plug/wiring is old and needs updating. No chips or cracks. Some aged dust in the ornate detailing of the base. The hand painted gold design is smooth but the little cream colored dots are slightly raised/textured. A magnet does NOT attract to the ornate base. I am not sure what kind of material the vase shaped lamp is made of but it feels like a very smooth ceramic/porcelain/pottery. Measures 12" tall (to top of light bulb socket). Base measures 4" in diameter. Weighs 1 pound 14 ounces (prior to packaging)We buy most of our pieces at auctions, flea markets & yard sales so we may not know the history of the item.
