Description: A complete and lovely 1966 vintage Springbok "THE ADORATION OF THE CHILD," art by Piero di Cosimo, circular 20-1/4" fully interlocking jigsaw puzzle, C940. * Beautiful rendition of the Madonna and Child by the Italian Renaissance painter Piero di Cosimo (1462-1521). The colors are rich and complex, and the details are amazing: look for the symbolic Lily to the left of the Madonna, the small Goldfinch perched on the rock below the Child, and Joseph (huddled in a golden cape) between the donkey and ox. * Made in the USA by Springbok Editions, New York, under license from John Waddington Ltd., Leeds, England. Springbok's puzzles are famous for their unique die-cuts, sturdy pieces and clear, richly colored graphics. Within a puzzle, no two pieces are the same! * Puzzle comes in the original round box that measures approximately 14-1/4" in diameter by 1-1/2" high. The completed puzzle measures 20-1/4" in diameter. * CONDITION: This is an authentic, pre-owned vintage item that is over 58 years old. This is Springbok's circular die-cut DC506, fully complete at exactly 506 pieces. * It is 100% COMPLETE (no missing pieces) and is in overall EXCELLENT (pieces and box) vintage condition. This puzzle has been very well cared-for and carefully stored. One of the oldest of the circular Springboks, it will be a special addition to your vintage puzzle collection! * Please view all 23 photos, including closeups, and note that everyone's monitor/screen portrays colors, light reflections, and shadows differently. * The pieces are EXCELLENT--glossy, sturdy, and bright--showing just the earliest beginnings of edge wear, and occasional pieces with those very fine surface cracks. (This is something that's happening to all of these oldest Springboks; it can't be prevented or fixed, it's just part of the aging process.) I saw NO bent, broken, torn, chewed, or replacement pieces. * The back of the puzzle is GREEN, with age-appropriate fading and toning. Pieces fit together perfectly--a bit on the loose side for Springbok--and the finished puzzle lays flat and smooth. * Two original inserts (14 tips on jigsaw puzzling, inspection slip) are included. * The box is sturdy and in overall excellent condition. The lid fits quite snugly over the bottom, very secure:). There is NO tape, NO split seams, and NO repairs. The box-top art is very good. The sides have the usual bumps and light rubbing, and one very small area of paper loss (see photo 18). The box bottom has some shelf wear and a few small spots and light stains. Inside of box is clean. There is NO writing on either the inside or outside of the box.
