Vintage 1970's Shure 545S dynamic cardioid microphones w Atlas DS-5 stand PROP

You are looking at a very nice non-working microphone from the 1970's era that would be great for any mic collection or studio set requiring affordable props as actual working mics of this models would be twice as expensive. The mic shown is a quality Shure 545S model dynamic cardioid microphone with the satin chrome finish that had excellent uni-directional characteristics. A very popular mic for broadcasting and singing purposes. It comes with the period Atlas DS-5 model microphone stand as well. It should be noted right away that the mic has been cleaned and tested but sadly the element has been compromised. The signal strength is weak and lacks bass. This mic can always be repaired but it will require a good working cartridge. If you have a beat up 545S with a good working cartridge then this might be an excellent swap mic for you. Otherwise just display it anywhere as it's a very fine looking example. It would make a great award for anybody in the music or broadcasting industry as well. Pic # 2 is from an old 1970's era catalog showing this very model along with the other 545 variants being sold at that particular time. The 545S was basically an SM-57 with the chrome finish and lower pistol grip with on / off switch. The sound on these mics are quite superb and especially good for use with drums. Again, this mic has been tested and does not work properly. The 545 series had distinctive looks and was a radical new design for Shure Brothers when it was first introduced to the world in 1960 with it's aggressive, simplistic and modern layout. It's been said by many musicians that the sound quality of this particular microphone is the best bang for the buck. The 545S was a bit more expensive then the standard 545 version. Many mics of the 1950's to 70's had the lower pistol grip and it really lost favor by the 1980's as all the mic manufactures stop making their mics with the built in lower grip. The modern mic used nothing more than a mic clip now. More practical but less intriguing. The 545S has a classic mid century vibe. This example has almost no cosmetic wear as seen in the pictures provided and one of the nicest example I have seen. The satin chrome has a very nice luster. No ding, dents, deep scratches or pitting on the satin chrome. The front screen is free of odors, tarnish or dents. There are some lite scratches on the the black plastic cartridge but otherwise the mic is quite nice. The Shure label looks very nice and completely legible. Mic is 100% solid. No loose parts. Joint mechanism works perfectly with adjustable tension. Mic is an easy 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is actually a newer 1980's / 90's era Chinese model. It's an all metal cast iron design with flat black paint that looks like the famous Atlas DS-5 model and compliments the mic nicely. The stand has almost zero physical wear. The stand itself is appx 4 1/2 inches tall X 6 inches wide. There's enough weight in the stand to keep the mic from falling over no matter how low the mic is tilted. All 3 rubber pads are still present and there is zero corrosion on the stand. Total height with mic and stand when mic is raised fully upright is 12 1/2 inches tall. As with all my vintage microphones... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid.
