Description: Vintage 1973 Lesney Miss Matchbox 5" Red Hair Doll, no box The Lesney Corporation dove into the early 1970s mini doll market with the Miss Matchbox doll line, a set of dolls that provided a girl’s option to their wildly popular Matchbox vehicle line for boys. Miss Matchbox features rooted stylable hair, removable clothing, and a flexible rubber body that folds at the hips and shoulders allowing the doll to fit into the 3½ inch “matchbox” house she originally came with (not included with this doll). Miss Matchbox is about 5 inches tall with small slender bodies and floppy rubbery limbs. Only 3 different dolls were manufactured, represented by 3 different hairstyles/colors—blonde curled hair with bangs, raven shoulder-length straight hair with side part, red long straight hair with side part. The dolls are otherwise identical with painted eyes and lips. Shoes are painted on in white, black, or brown, depending on the character’s fashion. Miss Matchbox is highly flexible but has no inner armature and so lacks poseability. It can be difficult for them to stand, but can be seated with relative ease.
