All original packing must be included. # Up for Sale is aVintage 1978 Sigma DM-19 Acoustic Dreadnought Guitar! Made In Japan for CF Martin! This is really Cool. You are looking at a Vintage 1978 Sigma DM-19 Acoustic Dreadnought Guitar. Sigma was a guitar manufacturing brand originally released by C.F. Martin as a line of guitars at affordable prices to compete with the increasing number of imported guitars from Japan and elsewhere. They were built in Japan by the best Guitar builders of that era. It is said that Tokai and Takamine were the builders of these guitars but it is shrouded in secrecy. Martin wanted a lower price guitar to sale and did not want to lower the price or quality of Martin, so they had the Sigma line built in Japan and then shipped to the Martin factory in the USA for quality control and setup. In production from 1970 to 2007. Basically, you have a Martin guitar design that is built in Japan. These are very high quality guitars at a very affordable price. The Sigma DM-19 is a design from the Martin D-19. Of course there are some differences. A brand new Martin D-19 will set you back about $4000. If you are on a budget, but still want a very well built guitar the Sigma is worth a consideration. There is nothing that sounds as good as aged wood. This DM-19 (Dreadnought, Mahogany) sounds AWESOME! The sound is deep yet can get bright. The sound projection is very good. It is kind of "Woodsy" sounding. I mean it sounds like what a vintage acoustic should sound like. Perfect Camp fire or Beach guitar. She has some wear and a cosmetic crack in the Top. Our luthier did a complete setup. Brand new strings were installed. Gig ready on Arrival! Nut Width: 1 11/16"Complete Package with Vintage Hard Shell Case Included! Due to CITES Treaty for Endangered Wood (Mahogany, Rosewood) We no longer ship out of the USA. Cosmetics: Very Good Condition. Keep in mind that this is a 46 year old vintage guitar that has been used. There are scuffs, scratches, chips, dings and dents on both sides of the body. The biggest issue is there is a 6" vertical crack on the Top that runs from the edge of the body to within 2 inches of the bridge. It is cosmetic only. NOT structural. (See picture #11, #13). There is a 2" chip on the lower right bout. (See picture #12). The Back has some marks from being held next to the player's body. Neck, Fingerboard and Headstock in great shape. Vintage Case has some scuffs, scratches and minor tears in the tolex. Some of the tolex is coming loose. (See picture #14). Overall, a very solid used "Player's" guitar.
