Description: I dug this bottle from an old bottle dump. It has some scuffing and scratches. There are no chips or cracks that I can see on this one. Below is some history of this Drink's origin. Looks like late 1800's to early 1900's. The bottle is embossed Gin Gera, 7 OZ. BOTTLED BY GIN-GERA BOTTLING CO. RICHMOND VA. THIS BOTTLE NEVER SOLD. It is about 7 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide at the base. It is a light bluish green color. The condition is of a dug bottle, it is intact and whole, with some scuffs and scratches. Feel free to ask questions.910 Colonial Avenue - Edward Conway Cheshire House910 Colonial Avenue was built in 1910 and was the home of Edward Conway Cheshire and his wife, Ellen.Mr Cheshire's sister, Annie, was married to Colonel Charles Consolvo, one of Norfolk's most industrious businessmen. Among Mr Consolvo's many enterprises were four hotels, including Norfolk's Monticello and Richmond's Jefferson.Mr Cheshire was a principal in at least two of Colonel Consolvo's other endeavors. One was a Steam Laundry that they operated on Norfolk's Main Street and the other was the Gin-Gera soft drink company. (Gin-Gera was a contraction of Ginger Ale.)The Gin-Gera soft drink pre-dated Coca Cola and had a bottling plant on Granby Street, a few blocks north of what is now Princess Anne Road. However, its recipe was licensed and it was sold throughout the country. As Coke grew in popularity Gin-Gera tried to compete with a product known as Gin-Cola but eventually ceased production. The ads for Gin-Gera featured two frolicking bears named "Consolvo" and "Cheshire".This particular bottle does not have the mascots on it, I do however have the bottle with the mascot 'bears' on it, in another listing. It is a very rare version.
