Description: Nice hand-colored mid-20th century etching by Barday. According to AI, "Barday was the pseudonym of Georges Dayez, a French artist who created detailed drawings of cities and monuments for postcards. Dayez was a prolific traveler who studied at the Académie de la Grand Chaumière and the Académie Julian in Paris. He later became known for his abstract art." He was quite prolific, producing many works of iconic European locations. This work is of the Amboise castle (Château d'Amboise) in France and appears to be one of his less commonly found works. Note, the vertical lines in the photos are from a reflection in the glass and are not actually present. Overall, the framed work is about 14" x 11.5". The area inside the matte is about 10" x 7". This was likely purchased in the mid 20th century during a trip to France and then framed at the Jordan Marsh department store (now long gone) upon the traveler's return.
