Description: Life-sized vintage Betsy McCall "play pal" style doll offered in 1959 by American Character. Two owners, both doll collectors. Excellent condition in every way. No marks or cracks. Hair has not been styled and is in excellent condition. Includes original blue cotton dress, white pinafore, petticoat, blue bloomers and handkerchief,. Tights and shoes are not original. Due to wear and age there are small holes and/or tears in the original clothing. See photos for details. Included is one size 3T girl's dress which is also shown. This doll has bright coloring, straight medium-brown hair with straight bangs, sleep eye with perfect eyelashes, a closed mouth with impish smile, and a slightly turned up nose. She is signed with a maker's mark on the back of her neck as shown "McCall Corporation 1959." She has a swivel neck and swivel shoulder and hip joints. Her feet are flat. She can wear children's shoes. She has no cracks, splits or repairs. No missing fingers stains or odors. There is some fading on the left leg. Looks as though the right leg is a brighter flesh color. The torso matches the left leg.
