We believe the handles are wood and the brush tips/heads are comprised of animal hair; we cannot state for certain as we are not calligraphy tool experts. Very good used condition. The brushes look very nice; one brush handle is bowed/bent. There is light wear to the box and the closure clasp inserts are missing.
