Description: Classic design from Dexter for this 1971 Mat Cutter! This is a beautiful piece of framing equipment! If you make frames and cut your own mats, you probably already know that a nice extra feature you can add to your mats is a bevel edge. Dexter is known as the leading maker of these mat cutters, and they still use this classic design on their cutters. The Dexter mat cutter will provide a straight or bevel edge. It can also be used to score or cut plastic, or thin woods like balsa wood for crafts. Chrome plated metal, with an adjustable blade holder that allows you to secure the blade at a variety of angles and depths. Also includes the original box and instructions. The box is intact, with no writing or stains, there is a hinge at the back of the box that keeps the top section securely to the bottom. The cutter fits snugly in a form fitting base. No cutting blades are included! This takes Dexter #3 blades. The tool measures 5" X 2-1/2" X 1-3/4". The outer box measures 6" X 3-1/2" X 2". Very sturdy design that weighs just over 1 pound in the box! Made by the Russell Harrington Cutlery company of Southbridge, Massachusetts. I think the main appeal here is the added bonus of the original box and instruction sheet - dated on the bottom edge of the back page as March, 1971. Add to your vintage office or craft supply collection!
