Description: This HH Scott 410-B sound meter from the 1950's might work if you can find out and apply the correct operating battery voltages. Then again, forget finding the special batteries as they, in all likelihood, haven't been made for many years. I made an attempt to test it by hoking up power supply voltages that might work (1.5V filament), but unfortunately the B+ for the tubes is probably greater than 20, the max voltage I have available, although some low voltage battery operated tubes WILL operate at this voltage. The last pic shows the meter reading B+ battery voltage and it's well below the OK mark. At least we know the meter movement is working! Otherwise, I could get no other readings on the meter. The microphone element (pic 6) appears to be a crystal/ceramic type and may or may not be good. I was unable to pull up on it to get to the back. Cosmetically the mic shows some paint degradation in a few areas but looks better than most. Just for laughs, if you get it to work, you might be able to turn it into a cool looking microphone by using the audio line to the meter as an audio output to an amp! Just speculating, of course! The leather case is in good condition showing some wear. Thanks to ebay/PayPal's current draconian policies regarding returns, we will no longer sell most items as working, but rather "officially" as parts, not working. Also, thanks to the same policies, we will no longer ship directly to any country other than the US. Any overseas buyers must buy thru the ebay shipping program. Everything is sold AS-IS; NO WARRANTIES offered on anything. The purchaser, upon receipt, might not agree as to our assessment of condition, but that's what it was HERE and it's being sold officially for parts or not working. It may or may not work at all when you get it! NO RETURNS or REFUNDS! If you do not agree with these terms DO NOT BUY IT!
