Description: One of the most beloved and collectible trumpet models of all time. Trent Austin counts the Super as one of his favorite models of Olds. A great player, with elegant lines. Nickel-silver garland - sometimes referred to as a tone ring, or tone control band - The Olds marketing folks referred to it as a German silver bell reinforcing band in older catalogs. The serial number on this horn dates it to 1971. It has an open blow. That handsome garland, and nickel trim and highlights really adds to the package. Check out those elegant top caps, clearly the inspiration for Zig Kanstul's signature line. Begin or enhance your Olds collection with this horn, available at a good price. But be careful, you might just find yourself playing this one all the time! Definitely plays better with a heavier synthetic oil. Valve action is quick and quiet, and feel great with a heavier synthetic. The lacquer is pretty worn but the patina is very nice. A keen eye will spot a few minor repairs, including a mouthpipe replacement. Only two of the three bottom caps are original. Would make a fun project horn if someone wanted to restore or refinish it. This instrument has undergone a professional cleaning by Brass Mavens.
