Description: A beautiful large vintage figure of the baby Jesus, complete with golden halo and glass eyes, made in Olot, Spain and probably dating from the 1950s. It was made in the workshops of San Antonio M Claret, part of the association of Olot 'talleres' famed for religious statuary, from the 1880s onwards. Probably used as part of a church nativity set, this statue would now make a stunning devotional centre piece at Christmas and throughout the year. Skilfully hand-painted, with lovely flesh tones and a very pretty face, this plaster figure is in really good condition - most have broken and missing fingers and limbs, or damage to the face. There is a tiny break to one of the thumbs and a fine, almost imperceptible hairline crack radiating from one of the eyes. Unusually it still has the original halo and as is the norm, the halo is removeable rather than being fixed in position. The figure is approx 35 cms (13.5 ins) long plus halo, and 19 cms (7.5 ins) across the widest point. It weighs 895 grams, and securely packaged it will be a 2.5 kilo parcel.
