Description: Vintage Proctor Never Lift Electric Iron #960 Tested Working Unit Vintage Proctor Never-Lift Iron No. 960 Electric 1940s Made in USA· Proctor Electric Co., Philadelphia, PA Never-Lift Iron No. 960 electric iron with lift button. 110-120 volts - 1000 watts, A.C. only. This attractive and still very useful example of Proctor's most innovative and stylish electric iron from 1945, is thoroughly clean and has been tested. It achieves proper heat in any of the settings very quickly. Please note: I do want to specify one detail. The outer woven cloth layer of the power cord, is frayed in a small section of its overall length (please see photo details in gallery) - but that is only a cosmetic issue. The inner insulation is still intact and no braided copper is exposed. You might only use this iron for display, but you certainly could use it for its original intended purpose. With that, I would add the caveat that Common sense, and Captain Obvious, both say that any small appliance that generates heat, should be unplugged when not in use or personally attended. I've included a couple of fun, back in the day, magazine advertisements of this iron in the photo gallery.
