Description: Oh what a fabulous find this was. Imagine my delight to see Steuben on this bottom of this lovely crystal apple. My heart was all aflutter. Stueben is an American glass company started in 1903 and this Temptation Apple by Agnus McDougall has been one of their most popular and sought after paperweights since 1940 when it first went into production. This one is vintage as my research indicates this one was last done in the mid-80's. "Steuben" is etched on the bottom - see pictures. There is also an AM etched on the bottom but it is very faint and would not show up in pictures at all. I only looked when I saw some were signed by the artist too and lo and behold there is a small faint "AM" on the bottom too. It is on the part next to the Stueben mark. You will need a loupe and good light to see it though. Anyway, the apple is beautiful. Clear and shiny and without any cracks or chips. There are two small scratches on one side of the apple. They are in the photos. That is the only minor imperfection and I did discount the price due to that, so you will be able to grab this amazing art glass paperweight for a deal too. You can see an apple just like this online in the exhibition catalog for Steuben's exhibition at the Corning Museum of Glass as well. It is online if you care to check it out. This apple is 4" tall and heavy!! Very heavy!! Like 2 lbs heavy which for a small apple is quite the crystal piece. It is truly beautiful. Happy Shopping!!
