Description: Presented here is a Vintage Swiss Baylor Hunting Scene 17 Jewels Gold Plated Full Hunter Pocket Watch This handsome Swiss Made pocket watch features a 48 mm gold plated full hunter case with a hunting scene in the front depicting an Elk being chased by hunting dogs in the woods. The back has a floral scroll design. The case opens to reveal a simple yet elegant white dial with black Arabic numeral indices and black hands. The dial has a printed floral wreath design and a seconds sub-dial towards the bottom. It is signed Logo – BAYLOR – 17 JEWELS – SWISS MADE. Opening the case back reveals a Baylor signed Unitas 6498 17 Jewels Swiss Mechanical Winding movement that is running strong. This acclaimed movement was introduced in the 50s and used in well known pocket watches of the day. I am estimating this pocket watch is from the 60s. Considering its age, it is in excellent pre-owned vintage condition. The case shows light plating loss on the relief images in the front and more loss on the back outer edge. This loss is not as noticeable in person as the magnified, close-up pictures reveal and appears to be a result of storage outside a box rather than active use. The crystal is clear with random superficial scratches visible on magnification. No scuffs or cracks. The dial is very clean with a few micro spots that are visible only on magnification. All lettering is intact and clear. The inner case back and movement are very clean. The movement winds smoothly and is keeping reasonably good time for a vintage mechanical pocket watch. I have included several pictures of the watch, movement and case. Please review these carefully as they are part of the description. Please note that all pictures are taken on the macro setting. This makes even the slightest imperfections, shadows during photography, and specks of dust appear much more prominent even though they are often not visible without magnification.
