Description: [zipedit] ; ITEM TYPE: wonderful old painting of a street scene (probably Cuzco, Peru....From estate where several generations ago g-grandpa was a mining engineer in Peru in early to mid 1900s) MATERIAL: opaque colors (gouche?) on board, in a rough, carved folk art frame. MAKER/MARKS: I do not see a signature, but have not removed it from frame (not much room under frame for a sig., but slightly possible) DIMENSIONS: painting approx 8 1/4" x 7", frame approx 10 1/4" x 8 3/4" CONDITION: painting very good condition....though the board it is painted on is so old it is very dry...(The board may crack someday, though I do not find that a problem on these old paintings...it rather adds to their charm! Just pointing this out in case being bounced around by USPS would result in a tight hairline to the board...though there is none now) *****NOTE: colors are a little more muted than in "autocorrected" photos..The sky is grey-blue more than bright blue, and other colors more toned down , too....) REMARKS: this is a somewhat naive folk art painting, but very interesting in some ways....The lines of perspective are nicely done...I especially like the llama...a few brushstrokes captured it so well!!! The street is half in shadow, half in shade....Whether you have been to Cusco, and loved it....or collect folk art paintings, or original old paintings...this one is a nice little addition to a global decor home!
