Description: Vintage Excellent - Rare Gun Metal Blue Color - REPELL-X (Stetson) - Stratoliner - Beaver Fifteen - Pinched Crown Fedora. This measures right between a 6-7/8 and size 7. This could be stretched to a size 7, read below. It’s perfectly shaped! It’s a real looker! That bound edge really stands!The underside picture is the best representation of the actual color of this hat but it’s actually 2-3 shades darker than that picture. This is so frustrating when all of the pictures do not match the actual color! If anybody can help, please write to us.After Grandson tried doing research trying to find any information on the “REPELL-X brand he was unable to find anything so Dad wrote a couple of Dad’s collectors and because of that unique color they all believe this was manufactured by Stetson. These collectors write and told us that Stetson was the only manufacturer that produced this unique color. If you have any better information please write to us. Stetson, Dobbs, Resistol and most every large hat manufacturer would be contracted out to manufacture hat by small companies to sell under their own name. States on would have manufactured this fedora and placed a liner and stamp the name on the leather sweatband. This was just a normal regular practice. You see this all the time with these older vintage hats. That Stratoliner. We took down one of Dad’s Stetson Stratoliner Fedoras and this has the same measurements as Dad’s 1940s Stetson Stratoliner and this has the same 2.6 inch wide brim.You can see that this is a 1940s because there is NO plastic overlay on the liner.The leather sweatband is completely attached all the way around to the hat but Grandson was looking for the under-tag and stressed the sewn joint and all the thread broke off, a couple at a time so we removed all the treads and in an abundance of caution Dad used a strip of leather from one of his old Stetson leather sweatbands to re-enforce it. It’s now the strongest part of the leather sweatband. The color is that older vintage Stetson Gun Metal Blue color and the best picture that matches the actual color of this fedora is the one of the whole underside. We just don’t seem to get the color accurate in all the photographs. Any suggestions out there?This was cleaned and shaped by my grandson and dad! This looks great with a perfect dip in the front!NOTE: Dad did have the late 1950s to early 1960s Worth Hats squarish hat boxes and since there were no hats inside he’s adding this as an option to buy. It’s still in great condition with its original hat holding insert set. It’s does have very very minor paper wear but well worthy of storing, displaying and shipping. It gets very complicated when done afterwards!The beaver is very very soft and thick. We took out dads collection of 1950 Stetson Beaver hat, 3X 10X, 15X, 20X and the TwentyFive. This best matches a 15X Beaver. This was a higher quality hat that could be an everyday hat. This measures to a 6-7/8+ at We use the 1970s with the Tilley hat sizing chart, still in use today. This could be stretched to a 7 though, that’s 22 inches. Dad says that the maximum stretch though. It’s will take a $14 Amazon hat stretcher or any hat stretcher will do and time and patience. It’s a slow process.A perfect 6-7/8 is 21-5/8 inches and a perfect size 7 is 22 inches. This is right between the two hat sizes but could easily be stretched with any inexpensive hat stretcher. Many of our buyers are using the Amazon $15 hat stretcher.
