Description: Estate FindShearwater PotteryBookendAndrocles and LionWalter Inglis Anderson(1903-1965) We offer a rare Shearwater Pottery bookend with major repairs. The bookend was designed in 1930 by Walter Inglis Anderson. The pattern is Androcles and Lion presented in the Bronze finish. The bookend is documented on page 309 of the book "Shearwater Pottery" by Dod Stewart with Marjorie Anderson Ashley and Earl Lamar Denham.The bookend is faintly stamped with the half circle Shearwater mark and inscribed above with “Shearwater” in script.The bookend weighs 2 pounds 10.7 ounces and was weighted with cement on the interior. The bookend measures 5 3/4" in total height. The base measures 4 1/2" in width and 2 3/4" in depth. As see in the photographs, one side of the lower half of the bookend was broken and restored without touch ups to the finish. The breaks appear on one side and one corner of a side leaving the front and one end undamaged.The Walter Inglis Anderson bookend is presented in gently used vintage condition.
