Description: M1859 Crupper, part of the equipments issued with the McClellan saddle. Seed stuffed dock, body of harness leather, two connecting straps which fit to the two rear rings on the rear bars of the McClellan (or other Civil War saddle), adjustable to prevent the saddle from sliding forward on the horses back when descending inclines. This device was an issue piece of equipment and an absolute requirement. Item is made of quality US leather with the correct hardware. If you are looking for cheap machine sewn imported stuff, search elsewhere. Item is hand cut, hand dyed and hand stitched as were the originals from a pattern, stamped (WATERVLIET ARSENAL) copied from an original while I was a museum director under the auspices of the U.S. Army Center of Military History. With minimal care this crupper should provide years of service. Most items ship next day. This is American made in a one man, veteran owned and operated shop, no foreign stuff here! Check my feedback, check prices of similar items then bid with confidence. "THIS AIN'T NO MUSEUM, THIS STUFF IS FOR SALE!"
