Description: WAX ART Encaustic Antique RELIEF Painting, Old Frame / New Shadowbox, LATIN, GERMANY, Violin, 17th or 18th Century This Antique Wax Art "ENCAUSTIC" was mounted in a very old gold FRAME with LATIN Newsprint on the back of the frame...BUT, it also has this name in GERMAN, "Tanzgruppe mit Geigenspieler" that translates to "DANCE with GROUP & VIOLIN PLAYER". Possibly the name of the ARTIST(?). That line reads: "17. JAHRH., N.M." If anyone knows how to translate this, we would love to know any information you have! *This Old Antique (1800's?) has been preserved by putting it in a new black Shadowbox *The Framed ART measures approximately 4 3/4" High x 6 3/4" Wide. The Shadowbox measures 9 1/2" x 11 1/2" *Condition of the Wax Paints appear in nice condition, with the colors still intact. *There appears to be some scrapes on the background wax, but the actual art image seems very good (See all the PHOTOS in our AD!) The original COLLECTIBLE has been stored in a smoke free, pet free environment since being acquired. The Artist Sig, "MM" is in the bottom left of the photo.
