Description: Unique assortment of WILLIE MAYS memorabilia. Included in this collection are: 1) Original magazine article titled "WILLY THE VIRTUOSO HURTLES ON TO THE FINISH." This article appeared in the October 1, 1965 issue of LIFE magazine. The pages were carefully removed from a copy of the magazine and taped together making a little booklet of the pages. The article appeared on pages 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 and 33. Pages 25 and 34 are included, but contain parts of unrelated articles. Buyer will receive 5 double-sided pages. These pages are in overall good condition, with minor wrinkles where they have been handled over the 52+ years they have been around. Each page measures 10 1/4" x 13 3/4". The paper has yellowed with age. 14 different photos appear in the article along with lots of text. 2) Original magazine advertisement featuring Willie Mays promoting "Win A Free Trip To The World Series." The promotion was sponsored by The Frank Tea & Spice Company, Cincinnati, Ohio. Willie is promoting Frank's Red Hot Sauce, that he gives his "Most Valuable Flavor Award." This ad has been mounted on white 3/16" thick foam board, then matted in a custom-cut red mat. Outside measurements are 8" x 10" so that it will fit a standard size frame. The original ad was rescued and removed from a damaged May 18, 1968 issue of Saturday Evening Post magazine. 3) "THE WILLIE MAYS ALBUM" hardback book. This is a First Edition book, Copyright © June, 1966. By Howard Liss; Hawthorne Books, Inc. Publishers, New York. I bought this book at a recent sports auction, and I do believe it was originally a library book. It appears to me that the first inside page and the last back page have been carefully trimmed from the book. This is probably due to wanting to get rid of any markings or the pocket in the back that would have held the library check-out card. As shown in the photos attached, it appears someone scratched something from the bottom area of the last page of the book where the stats are listed. The first photo in the book has a "1814" # written at the bottom in ink. The book has 64 pages and is loaded with photos and lots of text. Pages are still very tight in the binding, which makes it hard to hold open to read or when I was trying to photograph the inside pages. The book measures 6 3/4" x 10 1/8" x 5/16" thick. I wanted to offer it as part of this collection, even though it is in a compromised condition. I'll carefully place each of these items in plastic sleeve and add addition piece of white foam board to protect while mailing by USPS Priority Mail in a large bubble envelope. I'll mail the same day, or next day after PayPal payment is received. No additional charges to eBay buyer (United States only) for this special mailing and preparation.
