Description: In 1929, when transcontinental flight was in its infancy, the Spokane Sun-God, piloted by Nick Mamer, with mechanic Art Walker, became the first airplane to make a non-stop round-trip transcontinental flight. A section of the fuselage was removed so that a fuel hose could be received in flight. The Sun-God was fueled with Texaco aviation gasoline and lubricated with Texaco airplane oil, as were the five refueling planes.On August 15, 1929, the plane lifted off from Spokane's Felts Field at 6:00 p.m. and flew to Belleforte, Pennsylvania before returning to land at Felts Field at 6:01 p.m., August 20.
