Description: A beautiful antique French Napolean III wood, gilt bronze and Sevres porcelain floral jardiniere. This wonderful antique all-original 19th century French planter has elaborate and stunning decorations all over, the jardiniere with a lovely quatrefoil/floral lobed shape covered in light and dark wood parquetry veneer with a pretty pierced floral bronze edge around the top inner edge which secures the insert, the lower edge with a bronze band with fabulous wave patterns and the center with a stunning Sevres style porcelain floral plaque with a pretty bouquet of flowers surrounded by a gold wreath against a royal blue ground, the plaque with a lovely scrolling floral bronze frame, the bronze handles with further scrolling floral decorations, the top edge also with a bronze floral edge and the inside with its original green painted waterproof tin insert with handles which fold inside when not in use-a FANTASTIC planter! The planter measures approximately 13 x 9 1/2 inches and is about 8 inches high. The planter is in general good condition and displays beautifully wherever it is placed. It has all over age related wear including drying cracks around the top lip and some bubbling and cracking to the veneer in places. The veneer and bronze parts are all present.
