Description: Belgian Jewish workers ID stamp. This was applied in Belgian Jewish civilian workers ID cards, then overprinted with a large violet āJā. Less than 400 were issued of the 1,000 made. Original ID cards with this stamp have sold for over $1000. The Brussels office building that issued these stamps was deliberately burnt by allied forces. Only the documents within were confiscated by British intelligence before destroying the building. It was destroyed because it was unsafe from recent bomb damage, and it was a Flemish SS headquarters and a military communications center. For years there were no known MNH samples of this stamp. Then in the 1960s, 12 of these stamps were found within the recovered documents from the burnt government building. Those 12 stamps sat in a UK museum display with other war issued stamps until 1994 when the museum closed. The closed museum contents were then stored for nearly 10 years. Then, in 2004, the contents of the museum were auctioned off. This is one of those 12 stamps.Signature Confirmation Required.
