Description: A nice issued example of an original World War Two British Army Anti-Aircraft Command Battle Blouse Shoulder Patch circa 1939-45. British Ack-Ack Command during WW-2 controlled all Territorial Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery & Searchlight Batteries defending the skies above the UK. Formed in April 1939 Ack-Ack Command came under the operational direction of Fighter Command. Operated by TA Units, some regulars joined the batteries after the Miracle of Dunkirk. However as the war progressed, and amore & more TA's and Regulars were freed up for actions overseas so the young & older men of the Home Guard and women of the Auxiliary Territorial Service bolstered their places. In terms of the gunnery, the Home Guard and remaining TA's loaded & fired the 3.7" anti-aircraft guns whilst the ATS handled the ammunition stocks & operated the gun directors. Late 1944 as the war entered its final year, 3rd, 4th & 7th Ack Ack Groups were disbanded with their areas covered by an extended 2nd & 5th Anti-Aircraft Groups until war's end. An impressive black on red embroidered patch measuring 2" square this Ack-Ack Command patch is in a very good 'as used' condition and as unpicked from an Army battle-blouse in WW-II. Part of a small group of 15 such British WW-II Army shoulder patches collected by a veteran of the Normandy Campaign during the later years of the Second World War. +++ Please note this sale is just for the Ack-Ack Command Patch only! +++ Thanks for looking..!
