Description: This is the 26th edition Dated Events War Map Commemorating Victory in Europe, May 8, 1945, distributed by United Airlines, featuring a misprinted date. The 26th edition originally had the date of May 9th, but due to the time difference between Moscow and Berlin, had to be corrected to May 8th, with a stamp. This correction is clearly visible on this map and indicates it was printed shortly thereafter. The map commemorates the Allied Forces acceptance of the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany. It features significant dates in both the Pacific and in Europe and highlights the major theaters during World War II. It is an original piece of militaria from the United States. Please understand, I am NOT an expert in grading standards. It appears the map is in good condition. There is seam wear where the map has been folded but no rips or repairs. With the map folded, one edge has been folded down. The dimensions are 17" x 38" and it was published by C.C. Peterson and printed by Shaw Barton. This would be a memorable addition to any WW2 or militaria collection. With the 80th celebration of the Normandy landing coming on June 6, 2024, there will be much focus on the significant events of the war.
