The 464th Infantry Reserve Battalion was subordinate to the 156th Division and provided a replacement for the 253rd Infantry Division . On November 4, 1939, the battalion was redeployed to Graudenz in West Prussia, Wehrkreis XX . On August 14, 1940, the battalion was redeployed back to Eschweiler in the VI Military District . On October 1, 1942, the battalion in Eschweiler was divided into the 464th Infantry Reserve Battalion and the 464th Infantry Training Battalion. After the division, both battalions reported to the 526th Division . On November 7, 1942, both battalions were redesignated as the 464th Grenadier Reserve Battalion and the 464th Grenadier Training Battalion. On March 22, 1943, both battalions were merged into the 464th Grenadier Reserve and Training Grenadier Battalion. In September 1944, the battalion was mobilized into Valkyrie's Call and then integrated into the field divisions. But in October 1944, it was put back in place. After formation it was subordinate to the 476th Division . At the beginning of 1945, the battalion was based in Düsseldorf, also in Wehrkreis VI .
