Description: Original WW2 "RESTRICTED" German map entitled "MANNHEIM - ODENWALD" that also features the RIVER RHINE, LUDWIGSHAFEN, SPEYER, WORMS, HOCKENHEIM, HEIDELBERG, WEINHEIM, SCHIFFERSTADT etc Produced in 1939, it's headed "Nur für den Dienstgebrauch" (equivalent to a "RESTRICTED" British military map). This security designation has been redacted but can still be seen when held up to the light (see photos). The map was clearly captured by the Allies at the end of the War and retained officially. It was removed from the official British archives in 1973. In very good condition. From a large collection recently sold off by Edinburgh University - hence ink stamping to margin. (From time to time, the government distributes excess stocks of its surplus maps to various national institutions.)
