Description: Exterior surface appears to have been dyed and/or polished black, allowing holster to remain in service after uniform transition frm brown to black leather began in 1955. Reverse surface of holster retains original brown color. A prior owner's name, "W. R. DAVis," is written inside flap; I have no info on this individual. There is a cluster of unusual rough-textured pock marks at the upper rear portion of reverse surface; I have not seen this before and don't know what might have caused it, but has not progressed during the months I have had this holster.
